Alma Avila Oropeza is a senior majoring in Biochemistry with a minor in Spanish at California State University-San Marcos. As a first-generation college student, she is originally from Tijuana, Mexico but lives in San Diego, California. On-campus, she serves as President of the American Chemical Society Student Chapter and a member of the Hispanic Honor Society (Sigma Delta Pi).
What she is looking forward to in the ToxMSDT program is meeting students interested in the field of toxicology, as well as gaining professional development. She aspires to learn more and become a better scientist and knows this program will help her to achieve that. She hopes to go to Graduate School and pursue a Ph.D. in Toxicology and have a career as a Forensic/Investigative Toxicologist.
