Bio

Emmanuel Aghughu is a junior at Georgia Southern University, pursuing a major in Biochemistry with a minor in Psychology on the pre-med track. Originally from Nigeria, Emmanuel moved to the United States, driven by a passion for healthcare and scientific research. On campus, he serves as the Community Service Chair for the African Student Association and the Retention/Recruitment Chair for Phi Delta Epsilon fraternity, where he focuses on fostering community engagement and supporting fellow students.

His research interests include the study of the long-term effects of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (pFAS) on brain health and investigating the relationship between ticks and Rickettsia bacteria. Emmanuel aims to pursue an MD-PhD program, combining his passion for medicine and research to bridge the gap in healthcare and scientific knowledge, particularly in underrepresented regions like Nigeria.
