Gianina Garibaldi is a sophomore at Rio Hondo College looking to transfer soon and obtain her Bachelor's in Biology. She is from a Peruvian Mexican Italian background. She is a first-generation student. She became interested in toxicology when she discovered how important it was in forensic pathology. There are not many resources or opportunities at her current college, but after attending the Society of Toxicology conference, she became more familiar with the different areas of toxicology. She hopes to build a strong connection with her mentor and gain more self-confidence as a female Latina STEM major. She hopes to gain knowledge on how substances can have an impact on the human body and how toxicants can lead to death or disease. Her overall goal is to apply this experience to her life and be able to help people in the future as a forensic pathologist discovering the cause of death due to excessive use of different substances.
