Ashley Kaswer is a senior at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, earning her BS in Forensic Science with a concentration in Toxicology and a minor in Biology. On campus, she is a member of PRISM (Program for Research Initiatives in Science and Math), where she conducts research under Dr. Shu-Yuan Cheng, investigating the molecular pharmacological mechanisms of mitomycins in the cell cycle regulation of select cancer cell lines. She was first introduced to toxicology when she joined her research lab in the summer of 2023, and soon after confirmed her passion in her Intro to Toxicology course that following fall semester. Ashley is currently applying to Ph.D. programs in Toxicology or Pharmacology as she wishes to continue conducting research within this field and further her education. She is very excited to be entering the field of toxicology and is looking forward to creating meaningful connections with her mentor and fellow mentees in the ToxMSDT program.
